Cork’s Alpine Skate Trail is back for Christmas – and this time it’s completely weatherproof

Brought to you by Alpine Skate Trail Cork.
Oh, the weather outside is frightful…
But this Christmas there’s no need to panic about your plans for merrymaking; Cork’s Alpine Skate Trail and Ice Rink are about to reopen for the festive season and this year they are completely weatherproof.
With the twinkly lights and decor going up in the coming weeks, Ireland’s first authentic skate trail opens on November 4th, 2022, winding its way along a 400m path among the trees at Fota House and Gardens.
The winner of Cork’s Best Tourism & Arts Event in 2021, awarded by Cork Business Association, it’s a dreamy day out for guests of all ages, whether you’re taking the kids or planning a first date with a difference.
For less confident skaters, the covered Ice Rink is the perfect place to practice in your own time with the help of a penguin to help you find your feet on the ice.
To ensure the fun continues no matter what Met Éireann is forecasting, this year the fun folk behind Cool Running Events have put a roof over the entire trail.
Both the Alpine Skate Trail and the Ice Rink will be fully covered to ensure guests are all well protected from the elements, so this is one outdoor excursion where you don’t have to worry about the winter drizzle.

The trail is once again set to be one of the most popular attractions of Christmas 2022, with both the Skate Trail and Ice Rink open until January 29th, 2023. Tickets, from €14 per adult Earlybird rate (adults will be €20 and €17 per child after November 4th), are selling like hot chestnuts so get in there early to reserve your ideal dates.
Each skating session lasts for 50 minutes and the ticket price includes skate rental – all you need to bring is a cosy coat and your fuzziest earmuffs and mittens. Helmets and protective padding are available too – just ask at check-in.
This year’s food line-up is especially tasty too – once you work up an appetite on the ice, you can indulge in a treat from Good Fortune Cookies, Box Pirates, The Crepe Man, or Volcano Pizza.
