Cork ranks second among Ireland’s ‘most chocolate-loving’ counties

We have some top-notch chocolatiers.
And it’s no wonder; new research shows Cork has the second biggest sweet tooth in Ireland.
Tony’s Chocolonely, the chocolate maker on a mission to make slave-free the norm in chocolate, has done some digging, and combed through Google searches for chocolate in each county, to reveal the counties which are home to Ireland’s biggest chocolate lovers.
While Dublin tops the list with 48 percent of the search volume across Ireland, Cork comes in second at 10 percent of the searches in the last year.
Meanwhile, Galway placed third at four percent, Kildare landed the fourth spot at 3.5% and Meath came in fifth with three percent of searches. Limerick, Louth, Wicklow, Tipperary, and Kerry also make up the top ten.
The sweetest thing
While we’re on the topic, with Easter weekend fast approaching, The Chocolate Shop in The English Market is bringing back its hero chocolate-filled shell.

The much-loved shell can be filled with a wide selection of milk and dark handmade chocolates – from caramels, toffees, truffles, and pralines.
Just around the corner, The Roughty Foodie is stocked with Cork-owned Ó’Conaill chocolate as well as Kerry’s Benoit Lorge Chocolatier and Skelligs chocolates.
On St Patrick Street, Francis Keane, Founder and Head Chocolatier at Koko Kinsale, has set up a pop-up selling her unique, artisan handcrafted eggs at Level 2 in Brown Thomas Cork, open until Easter Sunday.
