Cork protestors have organised an emergency march as Israel moves into Rafah

The fear and despair is palpable.
Cork protestors calling for a ceasefire in Gaza have organised an emergency protest in the city this week after twenty-three more people lost their lives in Israeli strikes on Rafah, where hundreds of thousands are trapped with no access to humanitarian aid.
The latest death toll includes six children.
With the Rafah crossing in Gaza now seized, UN Secretary-General António Guterres has warned that a full-scale invasion by Israeli forces would be “a strategic mistake, a political calamity, and a humanitarian nightmare”.
The Cork Streets Instagram feed announced an emergency protest will take place in Cork City on Wednesday, May 8th at 7.30pm, meeting on the Grand Parade.

“Hands off Rafah. Our government must act immediately with punitive measures towards Israel.” they said in a post.
Another emergency protest took place last night in Midleton, where protestors met at the Lakeview Roundabout to call for sanctions on Israel.
