Cork mental health campaign launched for festive season

Connecting For Life.
The HSE/Cork Kerry Community Healthcare has launched the Connecting For Life Cork campaign this week.
The campaign acknowledges that the Christmas season can be especially difficult for those who are suffering from mental health challenges, and aims to highlight the resources available to anyone who is struggling.
There are 24/7 supports available to those who need them, such as:
- www.yourmentalhealth.ie which is also available on 1800 111 888
- Pieta House – 1800 247 247
- The Samaritans 116 123 or text ‘help’ to 087 2609090
- Childline 1800 666 666, or text ‘talk’ to 50101
- Text ‘hello’ to 50808
Martin Ryan, the Resource Officer for Suicide Prevention in Cork, said: “Preparations are well underway for Christmas in all parts of the city and county. This year more than ever, we are aware that this might be a challenging time and might bring up difficult emotions.
“We want to remind people that there is always someone available to talk to you and you don’t have to feel alone. The services we are highlighting are free, are open 24 hours a day all year around, and can either provide support, someone to talk to, or point you in the right direction.”
The public is being asked to download posters and wallet cards from the Connecting For Life website and display them where they can be seen, such as shop windows, in order to spread awareness of the resources available.
