Magda Lukas has been busy.
The professional photographer, who has a reputation for taking dreamy wedding shots, would usually be at her busiest during wedding season. With Covid-19 scuppering plans for countless carefully-planned big days, however, she’s been working on a more personal endeavour.
This week she shared a jaw-droppingly beautiful collection of images entitled ‘Flower Power’.
Taken over the summer months, the shots are a glorious celebration of Cork city, the coast and the surrounding countryside.
“I did this photography project for me,” said Magda.
“I did it for my own pleasure because I truly enjoy thinking about the subject of creativity. My own reasons to create are reason enough. Pure creativity is magnificent expressly because it is the opposite of everything else in life that’s essential (food, shelter, medicine, taxes, family responsibility, etc.). Pure creativity is something better than a necessity, it’s a gift.”
The locations range from Kinsale to Ballinspittle and Gougane Barra, the Shaky Bridge to Shandon and Cork City Centre, each photograph featuring a new scene and a different bunch of colourful summer blooms.
