The hotel is following HSE advice.
The Gougane Barra Hotel in West Cork has been forced to close its doors until at least September 26th after a member of staff was diagnosed with Covid.
In a statement posted on social media, the owners of the hotel noted that the staff member tested positive on September 16th. The staff member “had multiple close contacts within the team and some of these people must be tested.”
“Given the size of our team and how we operate as a family business, we have no choice but to close for 10 days to ensure the health and safety of the Gougane Barra Hotel community.” Hotel management noted that all guests with books during the next few days have been contacted and made aware of the situation.
The hotel is now in contact with the HSE and has said that they hope to reopen by September 26th.
The statement concluded: “We have been overwhelmed with the support and patience of our guests since the beginning of the pandemic. We are disappointed with this development and look forward to welcoming you back once we know it is safe for everyone.”
