Cork holidaymakers spot a seal on a surfboard, casually drifting down the river

Here’s something you don’t see every day.
Three holidaymakers en route home to Cork had to do a double-take as they passed through Dungarvan and glanced down at the water, where a seal was floating gently in the Colligan river on a surfboard.
Ally, And and Fi contacted the Neil Prendeville Show on RedFM to share a photo of the hilarious scene, which we probably wouldn’t have believed if it wasn’t for the photographic evidence.
Hey guys, thought ye could put this on the Facebook page and make someone’s day! We spotted a seal on a surfboard just drifting downstream in Dungarvan passing through on our home to Cork! 🦭 From Ally, Andi and Fi. #NPRedFM pic.twitter.com/ygg7cK0jE9

While it might be our first sighting, it’s not the first time a surfing seal has been spotted in Dungarvan.
Back in 2015, Darragh Regan shared an image of a seal basking on a windsurf board in the same area, while photographer Eddie Dee managed to get an up-close snap of a pair of surfing seals in 2019:
