Cork drivers face new parking charges from this week as City Council changes tariffs

Brace yourself, Cork drivers. Your wallet is about to get another little workout.
Cork City Council is increasing the cost of parking at two major city-centre car parks from this Wednesday, September 2nd, with motorists set to see revised hourly rates at Paul Street and North Main Street.
The changes apply specifically to the two council-operated multi-storey facilities, while on-street parking charges will remain unchanged.
The existing tariffs have been in place since February 2022. Here are the new rates:

Cork City Council said the income generated through the car parks helps fund the operation, maintenance and improvement of services and amenities across the city.
The council also highighted that, despite the changes, its car parks will continue to offer some of the best-value city-centre parking available.
A council spokesperson said: “Cork City Council will continue to provide the best value city centre parking with our new rates being 80c to €1.50 cheaper per hour than comparable private parking facilities.”
