Cork design fans are heading east this weekend for a unique (and shoppable) exhibition

By Yay Cork August 7, 2024August 6, 2024

Looking for an extra special piece for your home?

Cork design lovers and craft enthusiasts are heading east this weekend for the first-ever Cork edition of Irish Design Works, happening at Ballymaloe Grainstore from August 9th to 25th.

This free exhibition is your chance to see (and maybe even snag!) unique pieces from 20 top Irish designers and craftspeople.

Think stunning furniture, eye-catching ceramics, handcrafted kitchen tools, baskets and more; from wood sculptures to intricate glasswork, the variety on display is a true testament to the creativity bubbling over in Ireland right now.

Several of the artists will be there throughout the weekend, ready to chat about their work and even discuss custom projects.

This year, the artists are from Cork, Carlow, Clare, Dublin, Galway, Kerry, Kildare, Laois, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Tipperary, Wicklow, and Wexford.

Speaking about the upcoming exhibition, Tricia Harris of Studio Harris commented: “This is our first year bringing the Irish Design Works exhibition to Cork, so we are very excited about that, and to be in the beautiful setting of Ballymaloe makes it even more special.

“This is a self-funded group show brought together by a small selection of Irish-based makers, providing an opportunity to buy unique pieces directly from the creators. The mixed-discipline aspect of the show means visitors will get to enjoy a range of high quality, design-focused works and to see a snapshot of the diversity of creative talent and skill that exists in Ireland at the moment.”

A fantastic opportunity to support local Irish talent and discover truly unique pieces for your home, Irish Design Works 2024 will take place from August 9th-25th in Ballymaloe Grainstore, opening daily from 11am-5pm.
