This hotel’s Maharani Gin Afternoon Tea is a Cork on a Fork must-try

By Yay Cork August 7, 2024August 6, 2024

We love a creative take on afternoon tea.

Now The Metropole Hotel is raising the bar with an exclusive Maharani Afternoon Tea created just for the Cork on a Fork Festival.

The folks behind Maharani Gin, made in Cork at the Rebel City Distillery, have joined forces with the hotel’s culinary crew to create a specially curated menu in celebration of Cork’s vibrant flavours and artisanal spirit.

Here’s a sneak peek at the goodies guests will be enjoying: Savoury delights like Maharani Gin cured salmon with a saffron lemon mayo and O’Connell’s beef pastrami on Vienna sourdough bread, and sweet treats featuring a homemade buttermilk chai spiced fruit scone, a vanilla and passion fruit lassi, and a rosewater rice pudding.

Each dish is carefully crafted to complement the exotic botanicals of Maharani Gin, making it a truly unique afternoon tea experience.

“It’s very important to us to use locally sourced high-quality ingredients on our menus so the collaboration with Maharani Gin is a match made in heaven.” said Alex Petit, Group Executive Chef, Trigon Hotels.

“The gin has been crafted with precision by Rebel City Distillery and it’s been a pleasure to curate a menu around it. It makes sense for the speciality Afternoon Tea to be available at the Metropole Hotel as MacCurtain Street will be a hive of activity for the whole festival with the Metropole happily at the centre of much of the festivities.”

Mark your calendars, the Maharani Afternoon Tea will be served daily from August 14th to 18th, from 12:30pm to 4pm (€45 per person). Pre-booking is essential over here.
