It might sound obvious.
But Cork Airport has issued an extra reminder to Christmas passengers to refrain from bringing Christmas crackers onboard airplanes over the festive season.
“If travelling with gifts or presents, passengers are advised not to wrap them as they may be subject to an inspection by security personnel at passenger security screening.” the Airport management said in a statement.
“Christmas crackers are not permitted to be taken onboard an aircraft.”
A record year at Cork Airport
A whopping 195,000 passengers will fly to and from Munster’s busiest airport between now and January 10th, 2024.
Over 85,000 passengers are expected between now and Christmas Eve alone.
A festive atmosphere awaits arriving passengers with over 1,200 performers taking to the specially constructed Christmas stage in Arrivals during the busiest year ever for international passenger traffic at Cork Airport.
“Passengers want a friendly, easy, pleasant travel experience every day but particularly at Christmas,” said Niall MacCarthy, Managing Director at Cork Airport.
“We are offering that in spades at Cork Airport again this year with choirs and music every day in the terminal to welcome you home.
“Our staff love this time of year and work extra hard over Christmas to make sure every passenger makes their journey happily and safely.”
Passengers intending to travel over the festive period are advised to allow sufficient time (90 minutes) for a pleasant airport experience.
