She has shown her awe-inspiring pieces in galleries in San Francisco, Philadelphia and Canada and counts Facebook as one of her clients.
Now Adrien Segal has touched down on Leeside for a unique residency at Benchspace, a creative hub for local woodworkers.
The sculpture artist, 34, will relocate from her Oakland California studio to the creative capital of Cork for almost two months.
Here, she will explore a new body of work, including steam bending of wood, unconventional joinery methods for sculptural forms and in-depth carving techniques in solid timber.
Joining some of Ireland’s best emerging design talent at Benchspace, Segal will offer public presentations, demonstrations and masterclasses during a residency that will culminate in a public exhibition and presentation of her new work.
“Our current start-ups and six strong voluntary team will benefit hugely from seeing Adrien’s talent and learning from her experience, while we’re confident that Cork city and surrounds will provide the perfect back drop to contribute to and inspire her work.” said Benchspace co-founder and GMIT Lecturer, Sean Breen.
“Her presence here will showcase and profile Cork among the international art community.”
Adrien will give a public presentation of her current and proposed work on Wednesday, July 10th, 2019, with a carving demonstration as part of Cork Craft Month on Saturday, August 10th.
Her final exhibition will be held on August 24th, with updates available on the Benchspace Facebook page.
