Book a smear test and this salon will treat you to a FREE bikini wax

It might be the most important appointment you ever make.
A Cork salon owner is offering free bikini waxing to every woman who books a smear test in May.
Cliona Sweeney, who runs Beautique nail bar and salon at the uber cool Kopper on Half Moon Street, took to Instagram to ask her fans not to let the latest CervicalCheck scandal stop them from booking the simple, potentially life-saving health check.
“We started this campaign before we knew all about the controversy, it’s so sad for all the women who have been misdiagnosed – it’s an absolute disgrace – but please don’t let this turn you off having one done.
“It’s more important now than ever to ensure you are up to date with your smears.” wrote the business owner, who pointed out that the procedure is no more embarrassing or difficult than having a bikini wax.
“We here at Beautique want to encourage every woman who has never had a smear test or who is overdue one to book now! We are offering a free bikini line wax to everyone who books between now and the end of May.”
Cervical cancer is the second most common female cancer in Europe, with around 300 women diagnosed in Ireland each year. Research shows that an estimated 110,000 women in Ireland have never had a smear test and about one in four women did not have a regular smear done.
These are alarming statistics, especially given that up to 80 percent of cervical cancer can be prevented with regular testing, which only takes five minutes every 3-5 years.
“In memory of my beautiful amazing friend Julie who passed away this time last year and another friend and fellow educator Lisa, who is battling cancer at the moment, both would never have known if it wasn’t for cervical screening. PLEASE DON’T FEAR THE SMEAR!” added Cliona.
