The biggest take-out food trend of 2018 might surprise you

Looks like all those healthy Instagram accounts we follow are having an affect on us after all.
Just Eat is predicting that vegan will be the food trend of 2018, with the takeaway order and delivery service reporting a whopping 94 percent increase in demand for healthy food to the doorstep.
It seems like the battered burger is off the menu for now, with more and more hungry customers choosing nutritious, low-fat dishes over the stodgy comfort food of the past.
In 2017 there was an 98 percent increase in demand for vegetarian meals (33 percent of all Just Eat restaurants now provide vegan and vegetarian options on their menus) while demand for gluten free options increased by 72 percent.
The stats mirror Facebook’s Annual Topics & Trends Report, which shows that adventurous eating and convenient eats are firmly on the rise for 2018.
New Year’s Day 2017 emerged as the most popular day of the year to order takeaway when Just Eat saw a 40 percent increase in orders as people across the country recover from the biggest party of the year. Other occasions which proved to be popular throughout the year included Valentine’s Day, Halloween and Christmas, with a 33 percent uplift in Chinese food and pizza orders during the Toy Show.
