An Irish chef has come up with a simple and straightforward recipe for one of the most magnificent baked creations we’ve ever seen.
TV chef Shane Smith, who regularly appears on the RTÉ Today Show and Virgin Media TV, shared a tutorial for a Giant Jaffa Cake on his social media channels as part of his Cupboard Creations series… and we’re already plotting a supermarket visit to gather the ingredients and build one ourselves at home.
There’s nothing too exotic in there so you might even have everything you need to get started on your enormous retro biscuit in your kitchen already.
The Jumbo Jaffa Cake serves ten, so there’ll be more than enough to delight your lockdown housemates or family and distribute among your neighbour’s doorsteps as a treat. All we need now is a giant cup of tea to go with it.
Here are the ingredients you’ll need:
Jelly
270g orange jelly and 100mls water
Sponge
150g butter
150g caster sugar
3 medium eggs
150g self-raising flour
1tbsp milk
A dash of vanilla essence
1/2 tsp baking powder
225g dark chocolate
