An Irish company just launched a range of CBD oil-infused skincare

By Yay Cork October 14, 2019October 14, 2019

It’s the wellness ingredient of the moment.

Now an Irish CBD oil company has jumped on the international bandwagon, unveiling a range of skincare products designed to soothe and relax the body.

Known for its bestselling Multi-Complex CBD Oil, Louth-based Celtic Wind has been working on a CBD muscle balm, a lip balm and a body oil, each one 100% natural and containing no herbicides or pesticides.

In case you are unfamiliar, CBD is one of many cannabinoids present in cannabis from the sativa plant (the other major one is tetrahydrocannabinol – THC).

Unlike THC, CBD will not (and cannot) get you high. The main benefit is its ability to reduce inflammation and ease the symptoms of anxiety, depression and insomnia.

As an ingredient in skincare, CBD works by enhancing the endocannabinoid system, which helps to regulate pain, immune function, mood and sleep, to name but a few functions.

Celtic Wind’s Muscle Balm combines CBD oil with frankincence oil and tumeric’s most active compound, curcumin. The citrus-scented Body Oil contains toning and refreshing may chang in a base of nourishing sweet almond oil. The balm and oil are €44.95 each and, while the packaging is basic, a little goes a long way.

At the more affordable end of the scale, the Celtic Wind Skincare CBD Lip Balm, a blend of multi-complex hemp CBD with shea butter and sweet vanilla oil, is €12.95 (all Celtic Wind Skincare products are available on their website here with nationwide stockists to be announced in November).

The formula feels a little grainy at first but it sinks into chapped lips like a dream and provides a healing barrier that lasts for hours.

It’s small enough to pop in your handbag too; the perfect product for anyone keen to hop on the CBD skincare craze without committing just yet.
