A captivating selection will be shown in Cork, Dublin, Galway, and Limerick this year, with ten films and 22 screenings, many dedicated to the complexities of female characters, exploring the balance between self-representation and external portrayal.
Ones to watch
Pilar Fogliati’s “Romantiche” explores the lives of four women on paths to self-discovery, while Margherita Vicario’s “Gloria!” transports viewers to 18th-century Venice, showcasing a young musician’s rebellion. Ferzan Özpetek’s “Diamanti” offers a glimpse into a 1970s Roman tailoring shop and the lives of its 18 female employees.

Adding to the festival’s rich tapestry are films set against historical backdrops. Paolo Sorrentino’s “Parthenope” is a love letter to Naples, while Cristina Comencini’s “Il treno dei bambini” depicts post-WWII Italy through the eyes of children. “L’abbaglio” by Davide Ferrario brings 19th-century Sicily to life, telling the story of an unconventional group fighting for Garibaldi.
A very different theme is explored in the documentary “Real”, directed by Adele Tulli, which reflects on what it means to be human in the digital age.

Meanwhile,“Familia”, by Francesco Costabile, is a story about domestic violence and the attempt to rise above it. Winner of several international awards, the film blends genres, ranging from thriller to social drama.
All films will be screened in Italian with English subtitles.
