Nothing beats a clean house.
But with hygiene front and centre as the country battles the Covid-19 pandemic, you’ve probably been using more chemical-heavy cleaners than usual… and they can have some nasty effects.
It’s generally best to limit harsh cleaning products (bleach solution, alcohol or hydrogen peroxide) to where they’re most needed; doorknobs, light switches, handles, chair backs, sinks and toilets).
Experts believe the virus can live on surfaces such as door handles and countertops for up to 72 hours so a regular wipe down with some kitchen paper and a disinfectant surface spray is a must – and don’t forget to clean your post box for your local postie.
Next week Aldi is coming to the rescue with a new selection of green cleaners to lessen the chemical load in your home, from washing-up liquid to dishwasher tablets to sprays for around the house, and all for a bargain price compared to fancier all-natural brands.
There’s an Eco Kitchen Rhubarb Kitchen Cleaner or Mint & Eucalyptus Bathroom Cleaner (both €1.69), a Cassis Berry Eco Washing Up Liquid (€1.89, also available fragrance-free) and an Eco Power Mint loo cleaner tablet (€2.69 for two).
Their Eco Dishwasher Tablets (€3.99 for a 30 pack) have a plant based formula and there’s an Eco Laundry Liquid (€4.99) in two scents: Original or Lavender & Sandalwood.
There’s also a handy Eco Starter Pack (€7.99), which comes in a tin and includes a Shampoo Bar, a Conditioner Bar and a Body Bar, all made from natural oils, butters and vitamins.
All the eco-friendly products hit Aldi stores in Cork on Thursday, April 16th while stocks last.
