After a wildly successful start, Goldie is expanding its dynamite dining room

It was the standout hit of the party season circuit.
Now Goldie, the uber-popular fish restaurant that opened on Oliver Plunkett Street late last year, is already expanding for 2020.
The eatery has just opened a second space upstairs, meaning that diners can now book a table for a specific date rather than relying on the original walk-ins-only policy.
Announcing the new dining room on Instagram, management said: “We’ve opened our new first-floor dining room for 2020 and can’t wait to show it off. As we have doubled our capacity, we are pleased to take a limited amount of reservations.”

Ingredients are sourced from small day boats and local producers and the team is led by head chef Aishling Moore.
In a further boost to the restaurant’s growing cred, Moore was just awarded Chef of the Year 2020 by John and Sally McKenna, who lauded her commitment to ‘whole fish cookery’ (the kitchen employs a strict ‘gill to tail’ approach) and the selection of inventive, exciting dishes on the Goldie menu.
Part of the Elbow Lane group, which also includes Elbow Lane and Market Lane on Oliver Plunkett Street, the Castle Cafe at Blackrock Castle and ORSO on Pembroke Street, the restaurant is named after the city’s famous salmon-shaped weathervane at the top of St Anne’s Church in Shandon.
