After a mild Christmas, Met Éireann says winter will return next week

It’s been fierce mild.
According to Met Eireann however, temperatures are set to take a nosedive in the first month of 2020, as wintery weather returns.
“High pressure to the south will be the dominant influence on our weather through this weekend but a more mobile Atlantic regime resumes from Monday onwards, bringing periods of wet and windy weather.” reports the national forecaster.
Although the weekend will be mostly mild, dry and cloudy with temperatures of between 7C and 10C, Monday will be blustery with strong and gusty southerly winds, near gale force at the coasts, with a spell of heavy rain extending eastwards over the country.
“Outbreaks of rain will move in over the country from the Atlantic overnight. Moderate south to southwest winds will freshen again overnight, increasing strong to near gale at the coasts by morning.” reports Met Éireann.
It will be mild and windy on Tuesday with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, but daytime highs will be well above average at 12 to 14 degrees before ‘cooler, brighter and drier’ conditions take over later in the week.
Enjoy it while it lasts.
