This is very scary indeed.
Pictures of a bright pink substance contaminating the water at East Hill in Cobh have been sent to Cork County Council, Irish Water and the EPA.
The images, shared by the Cork Harbour Waterkeeper Facebook page, show the pink liquid gushing from a large pipe, directly into the ocean.
A photograph shot from above shows a cloud of pink water surrounding the source.
“Judging by the density of the colour it looks more like an industrial dumping rather than some pouring paint down a drain.” writes the Facebook page admin.
“Week after week we post pictures of what’s going on in our Harbour and waterways and still Irish Water say it’s not happening.”
Last year, Cobh was revealed to be one of 38 Irish locations where raw sewage is being discharged into the local environment.
The group is currently waiting on a reply from the Environmental Protection Agency, but if you have any information that could help them solve the mystery, email [email protected]
