A Teddy Bear’s Picnic at a donkey sanctuary? This might be summer’s sweetest day out

Planning your summer holiday spins?
If your kids are obsessed with animals, this upcoming open farm day might be your ideal family outing.
Families are being invited to pack up the teddies on July 9th and head to The Donkey Sanctuary in Liscarroll near Mallow for what organisers are calling their biggest family-fun day of the year — all while helping support some very deserving long-eared residents.
Kicking off at 11am, the event promises a full day of activities for children (and let’s be honest, grown-ups too), including treasure hunts, penalty shoot-outs, face painting, donkey talks, and plenty more surprises throughout the day.
And yes, teddy bears are very much encouraged.

It’s all designed to be a relaxed, wholesome day out where kids can run around, meet animals, get messy with face paint and burn off some energy while parents soak up the atmosphere.
Better again, the event is affordable enough for the whole gang:
- Under 3s go free
- Kids aged 3–12 cost €5
- Anyone aged 13+ is €3
Dog owners are also welcome to bring their four-legged family members along too, as long as they’re kept on a lead and cleaned up after.
Between the donkeys, games, teddy bears and family-friendly chaos, this one has all the ingredients for a very cute day out. You can book your tickets now here.
