A Status Yellow Wind warning is in place for Cork until 8pm tonight

It’s blustery out there.
And if you’re heading out for a bit of Christmas shopping or socialising, you better hold onto your hat: Met Éireann has warned that Cork will be blasted by “very strong” northwest winds all day.
A Status Yellow Wind warning is in place for Cork, Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Limerick, Tipperary, and Waterford.
Near gale force gusts and high seas on Atlantic coasts will also increase the potential for wave overtopping. It will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle and highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees.
Forecasters are warning that potential impacts could include debris and loose objects displaced as well as difficult driving and cycling conditions.
The warning is valid until 8pm on Thursday, December 21st.
“Tonight will continue windy and mostly cloudy with further outbreaks of rain and drizzle.” said a forecaster.
“Fresh to strong, gusty west to northwest winds will moderate somewhat towards morning. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees.”
Friday will continue mostly cloudy and quite windy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. There will be a few brighter intervals later though, with highest temperatures a slightly milder 9 to 11 degrees.
