A new wild sauna just opened in Cork, just steps from a gorgeous river

Soon, every neighbourhood in Cork will have a sauna, and we’re here for it.
The latest addition to the growing list of sauna spots just opened in Gortnaskehy, Araglin.
Riverwell Sauna was launched by Fiona Hetherston and John Joseph O’Donovan, who both have an interest in recreational outdoor wild saunas.
When it came to finding a location for their own sauna business, they didn’t have to look too far.
Located on the banks of the Araglen River on the very edge of the Cork, Waterford and Tipperary borders, this stunning location boasts fresh air, green grass and beautiful views, as well as showers suspended from a tree and a set of steps down into the river.
“John grew up on the farm. The river runs through the fields; it is absolutely beautiful. We decided it was the perfect spot for our new venture.” Fiona told Yay Cork.

“The Araglen River rises in the Doon Mountains and has a peaty colour to it, which really brings us back to nature. Nature and Nurture is our tag line. We offer shared sauna sessions and cold water therapy, using cold showers and cold plunges. The ultimate experience is a dip in the Araglen River.”
Interested in a sauna session and a refreshing dip? Summer opening hours are Thursday and Friday, 6pm to 10pm and Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 10pm. Yoiu can book here, €20 per shared session.
