A new LGBTI+ Walking History Tour will be launched as part of Cork Pride

Everything will be happening online this year.
But despite two reschedules and a temporary ban on physical events, Cork Pride is still planning a fun festival from October 19th -25th, 2020.
As part of the creative schedule announced today, a new interactive LGBTI+ Walking History Tour celebrating Cork’s long and rich LGBT+ history is set to be launched on Facebook on October 23rd.
Created in collaboration with Orla Egan from The Cork LGBT Archive, the walking tour was trialled at last year’s event and has now been reimagined to make it more interactive as a permanent fixture (once Covid-19 restrictions are eventually lifted).
The tour will be unveiled on the Cork Pride Facebook page at 6pm on Friday, October 23rd where you can find out more details on how it works. Register here to check out the launch online.
‘An open evening of acceptance and approval’
A Coming Out Talk, seminars, and a virtual Parade and Afterparty will also go ahead online this year.
“The annual ‘Cork Pride Welcome to the Community: Coming Out’ event is by far the most emotional event in our calendar.” a Cork Pride spokesperson told Yay Cork.
“It’s a casual evening where we’re delighted to welcome new members to our community, share our stories and give insight and advice to those struggling with coming out or having difficulties adjusting to their sexuality or gender. An open evening of acceptance and approval where we would like to help you feel comfortable in your own skin and give you the power to be proud of who you are!
“Guest speakers will include organisations and groups from the local Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Trans community groups and organisations in Cork. And we’ll also be treated to the coming out stories of some familiar public figures.”
