A mystery artist posted a purr-fect watercolour of a family’s cat through their letterbox

Do you know the artist behind this painting?
A search is underway for a talented artist who painted a much-loved family cat living near the Red Abbey in Cork city.
Aussie is unknowingly the muse behind this beautiful work of art, which was dropped anonymously through the letter box of the Hurley family.
Now a social media search for the artist is underway, with Aussie’s owners looking to say ‘thank you’ for the unexpected gift.
His owner, 17-year-old Megan Hurley told Yay Cork that the family has had Aussie, a black and white Tom cat, for nearly two years alongside his mother, who has been a part of the family since 2016.
She added the pampered pet has a few favourite resting spots such as on top of the cabinets, and doorframes and sitting on the window, watching and enjoying the attention from people passing from the street.
This is the pose captured by the anonymous artist in watercolour, with the painting posted through the letterbox in early September. There was no signature attached.
“When I saw it I was shocked over how good it was,” said Megan. “It was a lovely unexpected gift and we would love to know who created it as whoever did is very talented.”
Currently, the painting is kept on the fridge with plans to frame the piece of art and hopefully put a name to it. “I really hope we find who painted it as we would like to thank them,” said Megan.
