Nothing but the best will do for this Cork mum.
A mother duck chose the safety and seclusion of the penthouse balcony at Cork’s Clayton Hotel as a nesting spot for her seven baby ducklings once again this year… for the seventh time in a row.
The latest mother duck ‘checked in’ at The Clayton around three weeks ago, giving birth to the brood of adorable babies on the sixth-floor balcony above the River Lee last week.
“Mother duck enjoyed some TLC and recuperation on our Penthouse suite balcony, with hotel staff on hand to provide the usual service throughout her stay including food and light refreshments!” Paul O’Connell, Sales & Marketing Manager at The Clayton
told Yay Cork.

Management at the four-star Lapp’s Quay hotel very kindly gave the new mum her space as she got to know her little ones, before the family was safely removed and returned to the wild this morning.
“Mother duck ventured back into the River Lee this morning whilst keeping an eye on her offspring’s balcony. We contacted CSPCA and they advised us to carefully remove the ducklings from the balcony to their mother,” he added.
