A handy little list of kid-friendly festive art workshops happening this month
Kids already climbing the walls?
Santa Fever is real so you may need something to tide them over in the weeks before the big day.
With so much happening in December, it can be easy to miss some of the cool and creative workshops in the melee. Here’s a couple of fun days happening in Cork for your smallies:
1. PAKT (Parents and Kids Together) YMCA Cobh Kids Festive Arts & Crafts Workshop
PAKT (Parents and Kids Together) YMCA Cobh are hosting a special festive arts and crafts workshop for children and families/carers this Saturday, December 3rd. Taking place at The Sirius Arts Centre in Cobh from 11 am to 12.30 pm, attendees will be making festive Christmas cards, personalised wrapping paper, and giftable artwork to take home.
The YMCA Cobh and SIRIUS teams will be on hand to assist participants with creating beautiful pieces.

2. Art Beats Christmas Workshops (Age 6-12), Kinsale
At ArtBeats, founder Laura’s aim is to provide a comfortable space to enable kids’ imaginations to be stimulated, strengthen their observational skills, build self-esteem, inform cultural awareness, refine motor skills and reduce stress.
And this weekend on Saturday, December 3rd (and Saturday, December 10th) from 10am-1 pm she is hosting a creative Christmas decoration workshop for kids ages 6-12.

Here, they can get into the festive spirit with some cheery Christmas music and get busy creating beautiful decorations no matter their skill level. Tickets can be booked on the ArtBeats website and are €30 per child and all materials are provided.
3. Children’s Christmas Art Class at The Glucksman Shop
What better place to take the smallies for an art class than the Glucksman? On Saturday, December 17th at the Glucksman shop, a trained facilitator will be guiding the children (ages 5-8 years) through a variety of fun and festive activities including creating tree ornaments, pop-up cards, and hanging crafts in their own festive art workshop.
Using simple household supplies and art materials, children will have the opportunity to get creative and have fun for 90 minutes, and after, you get to grab a coffee and browse the gallery or pick up last-minute stocking stuffers at the gorgeous gift shop.
The class takes place at 11am, tickets are €10, and booking is essential. Book your tickets through their website.

The Glucksman also hosts ‘Family Sundays’ where you can bring everyone along for an afternoon of creative fun from 3 pm – 4 pm. These free events, led by experienced artists, invite children (and their guardians!) to learn all about how to make art, and all you need to bring is your imagination.
This December they will be hosting some special Christmas Family Sundays where attendees will make festive cards, decorations, and gifts. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis and children must remain accompanied by their guardians.
