A brand new local craft beer brand is now pouring in these city bars
They know what they’re doing, in fairness.
A group of seasoned local beer buffs have joined forces to produce a new craft brew brand and it’s already proving popular in some of Cork’s best bars.
Original 7 Beverage Co is brewed at Shane Long’s micro-brewery at the rear of The Franciscan Well, which was the first of its kind in Cork and opened in 1998.
For his second bite of the craft booze cherry, Long, the brains behind the Franciscan Well Beer brand has partnered up with brewer Páidí Scully and business partner Steve Guiney.

“With Shane’s legacy in brewing, he will offer guidance and advice to Páidí and Dean (Wrenne, junior brewer) as they set about creating a diverse and complex range of beers.” they told us.
“The initial release from Original 7 Beverage Co will focus on three beer styles – Hazy Pale Ale, Lager and Weisse. Each beer will be low in ABV when compared to beers of a similar style but uncompromising on flavour – filling a gap for a truly sessionable but unquestionably artisan beer.”
All three beers are now available on draught in the Franciscan Well Bar and the rollout has begun, with Original 7 Beverage Co. beers now available in Corner House, Costigans, Fionnbarras, Fred Zeppelin’s, Reardens, The Alibi, The Shelbourne and Tom Barry’s, to name but a few.
