A ghostly footprint prompts a paranormal investigation on Cork’s southside

If you’re the type who leaves the landing light on after watching a scary movie, look away now.
The team over at Cork Supernatural Society just dropped a fascinating (and completely eerie) report after investigating a private home on Cork’s southside – and it sounds like something straight out of a Hollywood script.
According to the investigators, a nonprofit team of paranormal enthusiasts based in Cork City, the family living in the house have dealt with strange occurrences for over 30 years. But over the last year, things have ramped up big time.
From footsteps running up and down the stairs in the middle of the night to keys vanishing, lights flicking on, doors slamming, and kitchen chairs literally moving on their own, the house has been buzzing with phantom energy.
A 30-Year Mystery
The major incidents are rare, but terrifyingly specific. Around 20 years ago, a family member eating dinner caught sight of an apparition of a young girl standing by a door that was slightly ajar. Years later, the very same figure was spotted again on the stairs.
Then there’s the ground-floor side room. Even with the heating blasted, the room remains ice-cold. Guests who have slept in there report sleep paralysis and watching objects move on their own.
However, the tipping point that finally made the residents call in the experts was finding a mysterious, tiny child’s footprint pressed into a pouf in the living room one morning – a print far smaller than anyone living in the house.

The Clock Mystery
When CSS investigators Matt and Barrie arrived at the home to conduct an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) session, the owners let them in on one more bizarre detail: no clock has ever worked in the kitchen.
No matter how many new clocks or fresh batteries they bought over the years, every single one would instantly die in the kitchen, despite working perfectly in every other room (and despite all other kitchen appliances running totally fine). Eventually, the family just gave up putting clocks in there altogether.
Intrigued, one of the investigators brought a working pocket watch into the kitchen. For the first 20 minutes, it ticked along normally. But after a REM-Pod (an instrument used to detect electromagnetic field shifts) went off in the hallway, the team checked the pocket watch – it had completely stopped.
Even weirder? Once the investigator brought the watch back to their own home later that night, it randomly started ticking again as if nothing had ever happened.
“This really was a weird incident and not something we have ever come across or heard about before in our 13 years in the field,” the team shared.
Cork Supernatural Society are currently sifting through all the audio recordings and video footage from the night, so expect an update on their socials very soon. In the meantime… maybe double-check that your kitchen clock is still ticking tonight.
