Amazon.ie has officially hit the one-year mark — and while the headlines are all about speed and scale, there’s one detail that’s caught our eye: what Cork people are actually ordering.

Since launching in March 2025, the Irish version of the retail giant has shipped millions of orders nationwide, with some customers even receiving deliveries the same morning they ordered.

Across the country, the trends paint a picture of a practical but quietly creative Ireland. Instant camera film, portable chargers, and everyday essentials like water filters and kitchen scales have all flown off the virtual shelves, alongside seasonal spikes in stationery and Christmas tech.

But zoom in on Cork, and things get a little more interesting.

While other counties leaned into practicality or lifestyle buys, Cork shoppers showed a very different side — one that’s a bit more thoughtful.

Four different Kindle devices ranked among the county’s most popular purchases, alongside bestselling book “The Let Them Theory”. In a country obsessed with convenience, Cork appears to be carving out a reputation as a county of readers.

Cork folks are also fierce fond of a very specific type of pillow that maximises airflow for a cool night’s sleep so it turns out we run hot between the sheets too.

Beyond buying habits, Amazon.ie says its first year has also been a win for Irish businesses, with local SMEs selling more than seven million items on the platform — that’s over 10 products every minute.
