Ireland’s only hula hoop convention is happening right here in Cork

It’s a new spin on exercise, for sure.
Ireland’s only hula hoop convention spins into town this October.
Circus Factory Cork will present Hoopla, a celebration of all things Hula Hoop with a three-day event running from October 24th – 26th inviting hula-hoopers of all levels, from total beginners to seasoned spinners, to gather, learn, and spin in a joyful weekend of world-class workshops, jam sessions, and a big Saturday night Show.
“We began Hoopla because lots of circus festivals are dedicated to circus arts in Ireland, but there is no festival just for hula hoop, and we really want to share hula hoop and the international community with local artists and hula hoop enthusiasts.” explains co-founder and hula hoop circus artist Kate Mitchell.
“Participants can choose four workshops from a carefully curated line-up of national and international artists, enjoy open jam space across the weekend, and soak up the fun Hoopla atmosphere with fellow hula hoop lovers. Participants can bring their own hoops or use Circus Factory’s.”

Day One begins with a Jam Hall opening session, where participants can play around with hoops and relax, followed by a private sauna session at the nearby Wildwood Sauna.
Day Two includes workshops on Tricks & Connections by Mitchell, Transforming with Turns by Gail O’Brien, Creative Hooping with Marianna De Santis, and Handstands and Flexibility for Hula Hooping with Gracie May Marshal. This will be followed by more sauna sessions and the highly anticipated Hoopla Hula Hoop Show in the evening.
