Tech Support: This handy workshop will give older Cork folk a primer in cyber safety

Are you the tech support lead in your family?
If you know some older adults who could do with a primer on staying safe online, Cork’s Lifelong Learning Festival is running a Cyber Safety Workshop for Older, Retired Adults in April.
The event is free and will run at Cork City Library on Friday, April 12th, 2024 from 11am to 12:30pm.
“In today’s digital age, ensuring online safety is crucial, especially for retired individuals.” the organisers told us.
“This workshop offers a unique opportunity to acquire essential skills for safe internet use, along with valuable cyber security insights from cyber security lecturer, Dr Hazel Murray from Cyber Skills, Munster Technological University.”
Dr Murray brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the table and recently contributed to an international Google event in Switzerland, sharing her learnings on how the elderly can protect themselves online.
From booking train tickets to purchasing groceries and staying connected with family, the workshop will give attendees the tools they need to navigate the digital landscape safely.
No booking is necessary, simply show up on the day to take part.
