A free weekly class is helping older city folk to use their smart devices

It’s a steep learning curve if you’re not a digital native.
Now, if you or a parent, grandparent or older relative could use a little help getting to grips with technology, there’s a handy free programme starting in Cork.
Age Action Device Classes are coming to Tory Top Library, offering older people the chance to build their digital skills in a relaxed and supportive setting.
The free classes are designed to help participants get online and use their smart devices with more confidence – whether that means finally figuring out all those phone settings or becoming a bit more comfortable navigating the internet.
Five weeks of free classes
The free programme begins on Saturday, August 29th, and will run every Saturday for five weeks at Tory Top Library from 11am to 1pm.
Participants are asked to bring their own smart device along to the sessions so they can learn using the phone or tablet they actually use at home. Spaces are limited, so advance registration is required and a waiting list will apply. To register, you can pop into Tory Top Library or call 021 492 4934.
A handy one for anyone who wants to feel a little less intimidated by their phone – and a lot more confident using it.
