Cork mums are WEAK with laughter at Laura O’Mahony’s latest sketch

It’s spot on.
Being a new mum is a tricky time, so it’s no wonder the first visit with the public health nurse isn’t always a date to be enjoyed.
Now Cork comedian Laura O’Mahony has offered a tongue-in-cheek version of how it might go… and it has local mums doubled over laughing.
With hilarious references to baby’s head size, a common issue often noted in the visit, the presence of (shock! horror!) a bottle in the home in place of a happy exclusively breastfed cherub (“have you not heard of the NECTAR OF THE GODS!?”) and the temperature in the living room of the sleep-deprived new family, the sketch brings back memories that are all too familiar for Irish parents.

Laura, a mum of three, gave birth to Freddie John Joe Liam O’Mahony just 18 weeks ago so the experience is obviously fresh in her memory.
The baby blues, baby acne, screen time, tummy time and the dreaded weight check are also highlights. Oh and don’t forget the dreaded percentiles chart.
The video had Laura’s fans clamouring to share their own PHN experiences – not all of which were terrible.
“I was so lucky that my PHN is amazing.” said one fan.
“It was a dietician who told me that my son was too short for his weight and I needed to make him taller.”
