A local author just shared the makings of the perfect summer day in West Cork
They’re the little summer morsels we crave all year.
And now a local writer has reminded us of all the delicious experiences waiting just down the road in West Cork during the balmy months ahead, having ticked them all off the list in one dream day out.
Novelist and playwright Conal Creedon took to Twitter to share a snippet of his latest jaunt to the Cork coast and, from the most magical spot for a saltwater dip to the most famous seafood dish one tiny village has to offer, it had us itching to grab our togs and hit the road.
“A swim in beautiful Ballyrisode, delicious crab salad at O’Sullivans Crook Haven, stopped off to spot the rabbits at Barley Cove Beach, and came across this lady above the road as we drove home near Goleen.” he tweeted.

If you’d like to follow in Conal’s tracks, Ballyrisode Beach is a secluded little sandy haven around a fifteen-minute drive west from Schull village in the direction of Goleen and Crookhaven.
Afterwards, the open crab sandwich at O’Sullivan’s is best washed down with a pint or a cold glass of white wine.
“All in all – a class A day,” he added.
