This’ll start the week off on a sweet note.

Cork’s newest donut shop opens on French Church Street this morning and they’ll be handing out their delicious classic glazed donuts completely free of charge to the first 300 customers in the door.

This is the first Leeside outpost for Dublin’s Offbeat Donuts, with a slick new shop next door to Duke’s on the busy Cork city thoroughfare between Paul Street and St Patrick Street.

OffBeat will also be serving loaded ice-cream cones, cookies and freshly made milkshakes with seating available upstairs at the premises.

The company, started by baking duo, Corkman Brian and Sandra O’Casey in 2016, is growing its list of spots around the country, adding a Cork counter as part of a €500,000 investment.

Ten new jobs will be created locally, bringing the number of people employed by OffBeat in Ireland to 100.

“CORK!!!!!! We are coming for ya! NEW STORE OPENING MONDAY! FREE glazed donut for the first 300 customers!” the business announced on Instagram.

All of OffBeat’s donuts are freshly made from scratch on-site every day, with customers able to observe the entire baking process while in store.

At the end of the day, all leftovers will be donated to homeless shelters and charities in Cork.
