Street Feast is back and there’s still time to take part this Sunday

A great neighbour is a blessing.
Some of our most meaningful connections are closer to home than we think. When we picture the people in our lives, we often don’t think about the strangers living next door. But in hard times and in good, a good neighbour is worth their weight in gold.
And it’s never too late to strike up a conversation and get to know the family across the road.
Back again this year to build bonds of friendship and cooperation, Street Feast groups around the country are gathering to share a plate and celebrate community with an afternoon lunch on Sunday, June 26th… and everybody is invited to take part.
The idea is quite simple: bring a dish or some snacks for the table and meet on the street, park, community hall or any available communal space.
With over 930 registered events in Ireland and over 151 in Cork County, there are plenty of opportunities to get cookin’ and join in on the fun.
“Chats with neighbours new and old, the ultimate potato salad, playful ways to connect with new pals and (most importantly) caaaaake! If you are worried that it’s too late to host a Street Feast for you and your neighbours then we have only one thing to tell you – it’s never too late!” said a Street Feast spokesperson.

Amongst the 38 registered parties in Cork City, you can head to the Lough, Blarney Street, Ballintemple, or spend the day in the stunning St Luke’s Community Garden where you’ll get to enjoy some of the veg grown on-site.
If you would like to host a street party, you can still register here and you’ll be sent all the info you need to get started. To find a party near you, check out the Street Feast website here.
Don’t forget the bunting.
