This Easter hotel break is the ULTIMATE golden ticket for chocoholics

By Yay Cork March 25, 2022March 21, 2022

Brought to you by The Imperial Hotel.

It’s a dream stay for any chocolate fan.

A Cork hotel has concocted an insanely indulgent Easter staycation package inspired by the work of Willy Wonka himself.

In a nod to one of their most glamorous past guests, Princess Grace Kelly, The Imperial Hotel on the South Mall is inviting guests to experience the full Grace and The Chocolate Factory experience and as usual, they’re pulling out all the stops to make this a stay to remember.

The fun begins in the hotel lobby, where Sandra Looney from To Have and To Hold has set the scene with giant colourful sweets, chocolate bon-bons, and golden tickets hanging from the vaulted ceilings.

There’s a vintage sweet cart, a whimsical photo wall, and a Grace and the Chocolate Factory Gateway ready and waiting for you to capture those all-important Insta-moments.

The menus

The menus have also been given a chocolate factory overhaul. The beautiful and elegant Lafayettes is serving a mouth-watering ‘Grace and the Chocolate Factory’ Afternoon Tea.

Taking inspiration from the Tim Burton movie, the creative team of pastry chefs collaborated with the hotel’s artist in resident Ethan Desmond (from The Sketch Up) to create a three-tiered story featuring decadent delights including a macaron with a cowboy hat for Mike TV, a blueberry choux (for Violet), a golden egg (for Veruca Salt), and Grace mini chocolate bar (for Augustus Gloop), for €35.

The Imperial’s sustainable restaurant Thyme at Seventy-Six on the Mall, which sources ingredients from the nearby English Market and local suppliers, has also added an indulgent Ferrero Rocher Choux to the menu. And you can indulge further during your visit with a chocolate-inspired cocktail from Sketch, the hotel’s new sustainable cocktail bar.

Book a ‘ChocoCocoon’ treatment in the Escape Spa

The Imperial’s Escape Spa has devised the ultimate treat for chocoholics – a ‘ChocoCocoon’ treatment.

Chocolate is known for its anti-ageing, toning and softening qualities and this heavenly chocolate-scented body treatment includes the application of cocoa-rich formulas, exfoliation with dry brushing and chocolate-infused essential oils, and a full body massage with melting heated cocoa lotion, and a relaxing head and foot massage.

You’ll even be treated to a chocolate bar in the relaxation room! This treatment is an optional extra lasting one hour and 15 minutes for €139 per person.

As if all that wasn’t enticing enough, there’s one more surprise in store; when you book the package you will be entered into a ‘Golden Ticket’ draw with the chance to win €1,000 to spend in either the Imperial Hotel or their sister property in the Flynn Hotel Collection, The Old Ground Hotel in Ennis, Co. Clare.

The Imperial Hotel ‘Grace and the Chocolate Factory’ package includes a two-night stay in a luxury room with a delicious birdcage breakfast and a sumptuous ‘Grace and the Chocolate Factory’ themed Afternoon Tea on a day of your choice. You can add the ‘Chocolate Wrapsody’ treatment from Escape Spa for €139.

Easter treats and treatments will be available for booking from April 1st, 2022. See imperialhotelcork.com/graceandthechocolatefactory for more, email reservations@imperialhotelcork.ie or call 021 427 4040.
