Weather: Winds will ‘increase sharply’ before a freezing night of sleet and snow

There’s a windy afternoon in store.
As homeowners across Cork survey the damage to roof slates, trees and trampolines caused by Storm Eunice overnight, forecasters are warning that she’s not quite finished with us just yet.
“The centre of #StormEunice has moved into the Irish Sea & over the next few hours wind will increase sharply across the southern half of Ireland as the storm moves east.” Met Éireann tweeted.

Meanwhile a Status Yellow – Snow & Ice warning remains in place for the entire country until 10am on Saturday, with forecasters warning of “falls of sleet and snow on Friday and Saturday with accumulations in some areas and icy stretches leading to hazardous driving conditions.”
A further Status Yellow – Wind & Rain warning is in place until 6pm tonight as winds reach mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h with gusts of up to 110km/h on Friday, coupled with heavy rain at times.
Tree came down on our family house in Cobh this morning. Very lucky to say nobody was hurt, and only a few busted windows and a stray branch through the roof to show for it. Stay safe everyone #StormEunice pic.twitter.com/ipMue2eNFF

Some disruption is likely along with a possibility of coastal and spot flooding.
