A comic book workshop for grown-ups could fire up your imagination for 2022
In need of a little escapism this year?
If you’ve always enjoyed comic books and you fancy having a go at creating your own, there’s a unique opportunity for grown-ups to do just that later this month.
Lough native and published author Kevin Smith will be directing a class at Ashton School for Adult Education, offering budding writers and illustrators the inside scoop on how to create their very own masterpiece.
Kevin started writing comics after attending a comic book workshop in the Cork City Library as a teenager and after his notable success (the first volume of Marco the Demon Dude is currently on sale in Waterstones and the Comic Vault in Cork), he wants more people to write and find new ways to express themselves.
The course on Comic Book Production will cover writing, artwork, how to print, colour and lettering. It’s open to beginners and experienced writers alike.

Comic Book Production starts at the end of January 2022 in Ashton School and runs for 10 weeks.
At the end, all participants will take home their own miniature comic book – something to show the grandkids someday, even if you never share it with a soul until then.
