3 scandalously tasty NEW burgers you need to try right now at these Cork spots

Hands up: who’s tired of cooking?
It’s been a long week and to be honest, the last thing on our minds right now is a schlep to the shops for dinner ingredients.
The chilly weather calls for a meal with heft. We’re thinking burgers; big, fat juicy ones and we’d like them served up to us on a silver platter (or a plate or a cardboard box is fine) if you don’t mind.
Happily, Cork chefs all over the city have been having the same idea and they’ve come up with some brand new burgers to lure us to the table.
Here are three to try this weekend:
1. THE DIPPED CHEESE BURGER
Where: Holy Smoke and The Woolshed Baa & Grill, Cork
No, your eyes are not deceiving you. The Dipped Cheese Burger is real and involves a double quarter pounder burger with caramelised onions and bacon relish submerged in a molten cheddar sauce.
A cheese lover’s dream.

2. THE KO TRUFFLE BURGER
Where: Vegan KO, Marina Market and Cork City
If it’s a guilt-free fix you’re after, the KO Truffle Burger will tick all your plant-based, meat-free boxes. Vegan KO’s juicy homemade KO Beef patty comes on a soft plain toasted bun topped with rocket, grilled onions, gherkins and My Vegan Butcher Truffle Sauce.
It’s available with a Beyond Patty too and you can order through Deliveroo, Just Eat, or UberEats for delivery.

3. THE WELSH RAREBIT
Where: Son of a Bun, Mac Curtain Street, Cork
Not for the faint of heart, the Welsh Rarebit at Son of a Bun is a burger piled high with spicy apple chutney, Chieftain IPA beer-battered apple and onion and a 6oz patty loaded with bacon and Welsh rarebit (a hot cheese), watercress and mayo, all on a brioche bun.
This might be our favourite special ever.
