A young Irish winemaker launched his first bottle this week (but only 420 exist)

Fancy bringing something new to the table?
A brand new winemaker has arrived on the scene and his first bottle is hitting select shelves throughout Ireland.
Killian Horan, a 29-year-old Trinity College graduate, is the first new Irish winemaker since 2015 and represents the growing sophistication of the fermenting wine culture in Ireland.
Since starting his journey in wine in 2016, Killian has been building towards making his own expression. The Charlatan, unveiled this week, is a realisation of his dreams and hard work.
“Le Charlatan is an organic Cote du Rhone, made up of Syrah, Grenache and Viognier.” said Killian.
“Hand-made from start to finish – making this wine has been an incredibly humbling process with a steep learning curve,” he added.
The Charlatan has been produced in partnership with celebrated Irish winemakers Charles Derain and Simon Tyrrel, with insight from Gerard Maguire – the man behind the high-profile 64 Wine shop and wine bar in Glasthule, Dublin.
The label art was created by the winemaker’s long-time friend Cathan de Burca, an Irish animator based in the UK.
The Charlatan is available locally and nationally from independent retailers at around €27 per bottle. With only 420 bottles in circulation, I’d recommend ordering online here and getting it delivered to your door.
