Glengarriff’s gorgeous Eccles Hotel is the setting for a dreamy botanical 9-course feast

By Yay Cork September 22, 2021September 22, 2021

This will be a meal to remember.

Chef Eddie Attwell and award-winning garden designer, writer, and broadcaster Leonie Cornelius have come together to create an unforgettable evening of wild food in Glengarriff on Saturday, October 2nd, 2021.

If you’re on the hunt for an extra special foodie getaway, it includes a swish sleepover in the newly refurbished Victorian Eccles Hotel & Spa.

The nine-course menu invites guests to dive into the wild world of high-end ingredients from the native Irish landscape, local farms, and beautiful gardens, as Eddie and Leonie guide the party through each course, sharing their personal stories, memories, and associations as they go.

Thanks to Chef Attwell’s culinary prowess, Eccles Hotel & Spa has fast established a reputation for its excellent food, with most of the produce on Eddie’s menus plucked fresh daily from the hotel garden and polytunnels, foraged locally, or supplied by the best of West Cork’s artisan food and drink suppliers.

An award-winning garden designer, interior architect, and bestselling author, Leonie Cornelius published a bestselling book ‘Dream Gardens’ and writes columns for the Sunday Independent, the Irish Independent Weekend Magazine, Irish Country Magazine among many others.

The stunning autumn tasting menu will be served overlooking Glengarriff Bay, where a steady flow of warm ocean currents from the Caribbean creates the perfect conditions for rare tropical plants to flourish, bringing a true taste of Glengarriff’s magical microclimate to guests on the night.

Following a decadent evening of culinary delights, guests can saunter up to their rooms and spend a peaceful night at the cosy Eccles Hotel. The next morning they can enjoy breakfast and take a wander around Glengarriff Bay, maybe discovering some of the wild foods they learned about the night before.

All in all, it’s a blissful escape from reality and just a short spin from Cork city.

Tickets for A Taste of Wild at Eccles – An Unforgettable Evening of Culinary Prowess with Chef Eddie Attwell and Award-Winning Garden Designer Leonie Cornelius are €220 per person for one night bed and breakfast, including the nine-course tasting menu and wine throughout. For more information and bookings call (+353) 027-63093 or visit eccleshotel.com.
