Cork’s Phil Healy achieves season’s best time but misses out on 200m final

She’s done herself very proud.
Cork runner Phil Healy has narrowly missed out on making the Women’s 200m final after coming in 5th in her heat this morning. It was bittersweet for Healy, who turned in her season’s best finishing time of 23.21 seconds.
Healy is one of Ireland’s most impressive athletes – as evidence by her selection to compete in three different events. She has already competed in the Mixed 4×400 Relay final yesterday, and tomorrow will attempt to qualify for the 400m final tomorrow morning.
Speaking to RTÉ after today’s race, Healy held herself to a high standard. She said: “I’ve already been out there twice for the relay so obviously I had to sacrifice my individual a little bit, but we came away with a final.
“It’s a really short turnaround… Obviously I wanted to do it faster, but it wasn’t there today.
“In less than 24hours I’ll be back out on this track again tomorrow and obviously I want to do myself justice. We didn’t expect to be in a final, and I’m going to be walking away from these tournaments an Olympic finalist… But then on the individual side you want to deliver as well, and I feel I was below par today but I’ve another opportunity to come out tomorrow.”
