Met Éireann is forecasting an evening of thunder and lightning
Do we need a warning specifically for thunder?
While we’re not convinced it’s strictly necessary, Met Éireann has dished up a Status Yellow Thunder warning for Munster, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford and Wicklow this evening.

The national forecaster put out an advisory warning of “localised thunderstorms with lightning activity and heavy rainfall possible this afternoon and evening.”
A Status Yellow – Rainfall warning is already in place for Munster and Leinster, with forecasters warning that downpours may lead to localised flooding tonight.
The latest weather alert is valid from now until 9pm.
At the very least it gives everyone plenty of time to bring the dog and cat indoors before the storm begins… or find a nice spot in the wardrobe yourself if you suffer from astraphobia (a fear of thunder and lightning).
