It’s a sad scene.

As Storm Ellen howled through Cork last night, she took three more of The Lough’s trees with her.

Council crews are on-site this morning, working their way through the fallen branches around the popular city pond. While the walkway has now been cleared, large tree trunks still lie where they fell in the grassy areas surrounding the water.

On the approach to The Lough on the butcher’s side, two huge branches have been torn from the trees. Further down, another tree was uprooted by the winds.

Large puddles have formed near the playground too so it might be best avoided unless your kids enjoy playing in the mud.
