It’s not over: Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow wind warning for Cork

We’re not out of the woods just yet.
As emergency crews continue to tackle fallen trees on roads all over Cork this morning, Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow – Wind warning for Cork, Kerry, Dublin, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Meath and Waterford.
The new alert is valid from 5pm today, Thursday, until 5am on Friday morning.
Forecasters say we can expect “very strong south to southeast winds later today, veering southwesterly overnight with the potential for further impacts and a continued risk of coastal flooding.”

Meanwhile, a Status Yellow rain warning remains in place for the entire country, with Met Éireann warning that “heavy squally downpours and thunderstorms will bring a risk of spot flooding at times today and tonight.”
The rest of the week is expected to be unseasonably wet and very windy weather, with further rainfall and wind warnings likely.
Cork City Council crews attended 40 emergency callouts relating to fallen trees and debris at 16 locations overnight. Happily, no injuries have been reported. Crews are still working on two locations.
“All public parks will be inspected for damage and fallen trees before being opened and as a result may open later than usual this morning,” said Cork City Council in a statement.
