What a spot for a proposal.

There, we said it. Now we can get back to swooning over one of the most picture-perfect overnight getaways available to rent in Ireland… and it’s only down the road in Youghal.

Perched above the vast expanse of the Blackwater River in the grounds of the 18th Century Ballynatray House, this serene little studio offers a magically tranquil getaway that’s designed for romance, whether you’re popping the question or celebrating your diamond wedding anniversary.

Hidden under a traditional thatched roof, you’ll find a luxury en suite bedroom facing the epic views across the water, quite unlike any hotel room you’ve ever stayed in.

A sumptuously soft bed and an inviting claw-foot tub are arranged inside so you can soak away the stresses of the week in a bubble bath, then fall between the sheets for a night of uninterrupted sleep and wake to the dawn chorus.

Bliss.

The shower and loo are situated just off the bedroom and there is a small kitchenette with sink, fridge and microwave also, meaning you can bring your favourite food to enjoy during your stay.

You can book the Boat House at Ballynatray from around €185 per night here. Email info@ballynatray.com if you’d like some help making proposal plans.

With seats for two, the balcony is the perfect spot to pop a bottle of Champagne…
