Grab an umbrella; Met Éireann is forecasting a soggy start to the week

By Yay Cork January 6, 2020January 6, 2020

It’s an excellent time to invest in a raincoat.

With a Status Yellow wind warning still in place across Cork, Wexford, and Waterford since last night, Met Éireann is forecasting a wet (if oddly mild for January) week ahead.

First things first; the wind warning remains in place until 11am so look out for debris on the roads on your way to work or school this morning.

According to the national forecaster, rain in the west will move quickly eastwards this morning, remaining heavy for a time.

It’ll be windy for the morning too, with winds easing gradually once the rain clears in the afternoon and temperatures of between 7 to 9 degrees.

Warm, wet and windy…

Tuesday is set to be windy with outbreaks of showery rain and temperatures as high as  13 or 14 degrees in the afternoon dropping overnight to between 3 and 6 degrees.

“The outlook for the midweek period is uncertain in detail with an area of low pressure tracking northwards over the country giving changeable wind patterns and bringing outbreaks of rain from the south.” say forecasters.

“At the moment the suggestion is for a cold morning on Wednesday with light variable or southerly winds and, after a mainly dry start, outbreaks of rain developing from the south and west. There’s a spell of heavy rain for Thursday in the south, spreading north and eastwards, then temperatures dropping through Thursday to give a cold frosty night on Thursday night.”
